Instagram has become unusable for me because: I use it in the morning/late evening when my critical thinking is at its lowest The algorithm learned that rage bait/stress bait works My whole feed is stuff that consistently makes me furious Unlike some other places, it’s slow to learn/change.
ballistic missile and several drones (or what was left of them after they were shot down) hit in my neighborhood tonight. meanwhile the (supposedly) most powerful politician on the planet compares this war to “kids fighting” and says they should fight it out before the grownups step in…
Finished reading: Oathbringer: Book Three of the Stormlight Archive by Brandon Sanderson 📚 First Oathbound now Oathbringer. Very Oathy month.
Moved all my audiobooks to BookPlayer and most of my local music library to foobar2000. Been using VLC for movies/videos since forever. What else am I missing? I’m sure there’s some other “get rid of subscription services in favor of owning your stuff” app thing I’m missing.
Dope video about the Internet Archive and how they’re scanning microfiche: www.youtube.com/live/r93Q…
Let YouTube take me on a “FOSS but make it right-wing” rabbit hole and actually came across three (3!!!) different videos claiming that “the overton window is being pushed further and further to the left every day!” These videos were made by people in the US! Make it make sense.
Finished: Oathbound by Tracy Deonn 📚 Honestly? Weakest book in the series so far. Not just because of the frequently mentioned “putting lots of irons in the fire for the next book” aspect of it (though that’s a big part). Will record a podcast about this book eventually. :)
After finishing Cyberpunk 2077 (Aldocados ending) I decided to use the momentum and go straight into Witcher 3. God DAMN that game is HUGE.
Anybody come across a “this person knows their shit”’s prediction on when the AI bubble will burst? I feel like it will be easier to wait if I know how long I have to wait for.
Today’s big adventure included buying new headphones (Koss Porta Pro Wireless 2.0), getting home all excited to test them, realizing they have a terrible noise floor that sounds like gurgling water coming from a hissy speaker ONLY on the left driver, and then returning them within an hour.
watching YouTube with my cat = quality time
funny and unsurprising how every russian musician’s bio now starts with “berlin based” or “amsterdam based” or whatever. bruh u not fooling anyone.
I have finally/unfortunately had techno “click” for me and now it’s all I’ve been listening to for more than a week.
As I’m out here trying to discover new music/artists/video-makers the most exhausting part of it is double-tripple checking that people don’t have a russian background. #JustWarThings
In the latest episode of “toni’s ADHD has served up another hyperfixation” — I want to buy a DJ controller and live my life as my true self, “the dude that always knows what song to play next at a gathering”.
Finished reading: Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir. This was a re-read, but it still felt thrilling the whole way through. 5-Stars. Again. I read it with my GF and she also gave it 5-Stars. Extra good feeling of recommending a book the other person likes. Overall — 6-star experience!
A Video About Lex Croucher's Novel Writing Journey
www.youtube.com/watch I love seeing how people go about their creative pursuits, and this “start-to-finish” vlog about the journey of writing a novel really rekindled my motivation to write a book. I’m not saying I’m starting today, but I do now own Scrivener and I did outline my first draft.
A Video About Lex Croucher's Novel Writing JourneyAnother sleepless night because of drones and rockets launched by russia. It’s been a while since they’ve launched these combined attacks, but spring is usually when they start doing it regularly. Seasonal depression is winding down. Glad to have these sleepless nights to keep me in check. Not.
The US deciding not to share intelligence data with Ukraine is such a “I’m taking my basketball home because you’re mean to me” move. Petulant toddlers in suits running a global superpower.
My blog might look like I’m reading a book a day, but actually I’m just catching up my micro.blog bookshelf to my Syory Graph. That said, I did finish three different books this week.

Nothing like a two-hour work call to kill my “I feel like I can get everything(!!!) done today” mood.
